Dear Grove Family,
Grace and peace are two words often used in biblical greetings and grace and peace from God are two things that we need now more than ever. With today's announcement of the three-week shutdown, much of the messaging in the media has been that we are strong and resilient and, because of that, we will get through this. It's a message of self-reliance. However, the message that our families and church really need to hear right now is not a message of self-reliance but of God-reliance. The life application from this trial is not to conclude that we are strong, but rather, that we are weak but He is strong (as we affirm when we sing Jesus Loves Me). To this point, Psalm 121:2 says, "My help comes from the Lord maker of heaven and earth." Let's continue to seek God, praying for each other and with each other over phone and social media.
Praying for your safety church family! Governor Whitmer's executive order states that all gatherings between people who don't live in a single household are banned for three weeks.
If any of you need help with picking up groceries or supplies, we have people who are standing by willing to help you with that. For prayer or any needs, you can email the office (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call into the office (517-651-5729) and leave a message. I'll be checking those messages twice daily. And, as always, you can call/text me on my cell phone (517-599-6979). Let's continue to explore creative ways to stay connected as a church family through available technology.
Also, continue to lift up our global partners in prayer. To our missionaries: If you have any specific prayer needs at this time please send them our way so that we can be praying specifically for you.
This morning, Larry and Teresa Freed sent me the lyrics of the hymn "How Firm a Foundation." The words were an encouragement to me and I trust they will be to you as well. "Fear not I am with thee, O be not dismayed. For I am thy God and will still give thee aid. I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand."
Grace and peace.
